Shannon Harris, LMSW, MBA, RYT-200

Shannon is a licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) serving a diverse clientele, including tweens, teens, adults, families, and couples. She specializes in supporting clients ages ten and older who are looking for support with symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma that are interfering with their personal goals.

Before beginning her journey to becoming a therapist, Shannon supported behavioral health agencies behind the scenes. For more than 15 years, she used her relational and administrative skills to help behavioral health agencies through account relations, human resources, and business development roles. This unique background has equipped Shannon with a deep understanding of the business side of mental health care, allowing her to provide more comprehensive and effective support to her clients. Now, as a clinician, she uses these experiences to enlighten her practice, as she takes a collaborative and holistic approach to helping people enhance their quality of life.

Shannon’s expertise extends beyond clinical skills. She is a dedicated yogi and yoga teacher, strongly advocating for the mind-body connection in the healing process. This belief underscores her commitment to providing comprehensive care to her clients.

Treatment Approach

Shannon takes a person-centered and strengths-based approach while viewing clients through a trauma-informed lens. She incorporates several evidence-based modalities, including CBT and motivational interviewing. Shannon’s areas of expertise include working with individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders and complex mental health concerns, including the completion of the Center for Motivation and Change Foundation’s Invitation to Change (ITC) Approach training for professionals. During her internship with JGA, Shannon expanded her repertoire to include working with adolescents and their families. Additionally, she completed JGA’s comprehensive certification program for treating families and couples. Shannon has also received training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), which helps support individuals 3-18 experiencing symptoms of PTSD. She is also a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

Education

Shannon earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Memphis and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Shannon completed her second-year internship as an MSW Intern with Jonah Green and Associates.
