Katherine is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who has over 20 years of experience providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She has treated individuals with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders, among other behavioral and mental health challenges.
Treatment Orientation
Katherine is a thoughtful and caring clinician who tailors her therapeutic approach to each individual’s and family’s unique needs. She empowers clients by building on their strengths and past successes, and uses evidence-based therapeutic models, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-based approaches.
Katherine collaborates closely with families in her work with children and adolescents. Depending on the presenting issues, she may combine work with the family as a whole, parenting session, parent-child dyads, or individual sessions with a child or teen. She believes that families can significantly enhance their children’s progress by increasing healthy communication and engaging in the therapeutic process together.
Work Experience
Katherine has worked with children, teens, and families as an elementary, middle, and high school counselor and social worker for over fifteen years. She has successfully helped children from pre-K through high school and young adults in college with challenging transitions and difficult emotional experiences. Katherine has also provided therapy for adults in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings.
Education
Katherine received her undergraduate degree from Lawrence University. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago.
