Jess is a Licensed Clinical Social worker with more than ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in multiple settings, including outpatient mental health, community, and home-based settings. Jess feels strongly that her work with clients is most successful when engaging fully with the family system to best understand and help children in their family environment.
Areas of Interest
Jess works with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of concerns including, mood, anxiety and behavioral disorders, and postpartum maternal mental health. Jess enjoys working closely with parents to provide guidance, support, and psychoeducation and build positive family system changes. She has expertise and specialized training to address grief, previous childhood abuse, trauma, and problematic sexual behaviors in children.
Treatment Approach
Jess pairs empathy and curiosity with a client-centered approach to build strong therapeutic relationships and collaborations with clients and their families. It is of utmost importance to Jess to include clients in the planning and creating therapeutic goals from the outset to foster participation, progress, and long-term success for each client and their family.
Jess has training in various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral, play therapy, solution-focused, family, and group therapy. She utilizes specialized, evidence-based treatment approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when indicated. Jess works closely with parent/caregiver(s) to help children and adolescents build skills and generate understanding and support within the family.
Education
Jess earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from Boston University, with a Trauma Certificate and Group Specialization. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Smith College.
