She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds and navigating complex circumstances.
Treatment Approach
Emily uses a person-centered, holistic approach. She believes in creating a warm space that builds on clients’ strengths to bring about meaningful change. Evidence-based practices inform her work, which rests on the belief that each person is unique and that treatment should be tailored toward their personal goals.
Emily enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience supporting individuals and families as they navigate challenging adjustments, including immigration and asylum-seeking, separation/divorce, parenting and co-parenting, grief and loss, neurodivergence and atypical identities, substance abuse, and burnout.
Work Experience
Emily has worked as an elementary and middle school literacy teacher and interventionist with children, teens, and families. As a literacy teacher, she molded her writer’s and reader’s workshop into a trauma-conscious space where children explored their identities, reflected on their most meaningful relationships and experiences, and processed past traumas. Her intervention plans helped struggling students realize success with academic and behavioral goals.
Education
Emily earned her Master’s Degree in Education and Bachelor’s Degree in English from Hunter College. She also holds an Associate’s degree in photography from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
