Cindy is a Licensed Master Social Worker who works with pre-teens, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. She supports clients navigating anxiety, school and workplace stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, including separation and divorce, and grief and loss. She is particularly interested in helping clients feel heard, communicate their needs, strengthen their relationships, and build greater self-confidence.
Treatment Approach
Cindy offers a warm, collaborative space where clients can explore challenges without judgment. Her person-centered, strengths-based approach recognizes each client’s experiences, cultural background, and goals. She brings a family systems perspective to understanding how relationships influence well-being and how new ways of relating can support change.
Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness, Cindy tailors sessions to each client’s needs. She combines practical tools for managing emotions and everyday challenges with opportunities to explore deeper feelings and relationship patterns.
Education
Cindy earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. During her clinical fellowship with the U.S. Senate Employee Assistance Program, she provided brief counseling to adolescents and adults, completed psychosocial assessments, and facilitated wellness groups. She has also supported refugees and asylum seekers through employment and job-readiness services at Emma’s Torch.
Cindy is the author of Winning Your Parents’ Approval for Divorce and Listen to Yourself: The Brown Girl’s Guide to Trusting Your Intuition. Her writing and earlier divorce coaching work explore family expectations, cultural identity, and finding confidence in one’s own voice. These experiences inform her interest in helping clients understand their needs, establish boundaries, and navigate meaningful life decisions. She prioritizes respect for each individual’s and couple’s goals, supporting greater understanding, communication, and thoughtful choices about their future.
Cindy is licensed in Maryland and Washington, DC, and provides clinical services at JGA under the supervision of Yasmin Meyers, LCSW-C.
